Chennai: Today a major accident took place in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. A boat in the sea near Pamban in Rameswaram in the state sank uncontrollably after it hit a cliff. After reaching the spot, the Indian Coast Guard rescued nine fishermen from Tamil Nadu safely on Sunday. Mandapam Coast Guard commander M Venkatesh told the media that the fishermen were trying to cross the Pamban railway bridge at Taruvaculam in Tuticorin district, during which their boat strayed and hit a cliff. The boat going to Nagapattinam overturned uncontrollably and sank after being damaged due to hitting a cliff. Venkatesh told the media that some fishermen called the police and informed that the boat has sunk in the sea and nine fishermen are fighting for life in the deep sea, after which the team of Coast Guard personnel was on the spot. Arrived and rescued the fishermen with the help of local police.
