New Delhi: Tata Group, the country's largest industrial conglomerate, can today submit an 'expression of interest' (document formally offered for willingness to buy) for the troubled national carrier Air India, meaning that Tata Group Air India Is bidder to buy. The Tata group will use Air Asia as a vehicle for Air India, where Tata Sons have a large stake. Sources have given information in this regard. Ajay Singh of SpiceJet is also keeping an eye on Air India, but SpiceJet has refused to comment on this. It is worth mentioning that when the government bid for Air India in 2018, no buyers came forward, but now many people have come forward to buy it. Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said last year that Air India may have to be shut down if it is not privatized. Puri said on Sunday that, (Air India's divestment) is a confidential process. The concerned department (DIPAM) will comment at the right time. Currently, Tata Sons operates Vistara Airlines in association with Singapore Airlines. The group has decided that it will operate on the routes of Air India through the budget carrier Air Asia India. At the same time, Singapore Airlines is not keen to participate in the already loss-making Air India privatization program.
