Telangana: Former BJP leader found dead in his burnt car's trunk

Hyderabad: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president and businessman V Srinivas Prasad was found dead in the trunk of his burnt car in Medak district of Telangana on Tuesday. According to the district superintendent of police, some of the accused had set Srinivas on fire with his car in the morning. IPS Chandana Deepti said, 'After receiving the news of the fire, we saw Srinivas's body lying in the trunk of the car. The accused set Srinivas on fire with his car.'

Police said the case is still under investigation and the body has been sent to a local government hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Pusil is trying to get further information to the bottom of the case. Venkataiya Srinivas Prasad (B. 1947), known as V Srinivas Prasad, was a politician from Karnataka.

He was a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing The Nanjangud Parliamentary Constituency and a six-time MP from Chamarajnagar (Lok Sabha constituency). He was originally from the Indian National Congress. He later joined the Janata Dal-United (JDU). He then went back to congress and was elected MLA from Nanjangud in 2013. He changed his party again and officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on December 24, 2016.
