Hyderabad: A father was arrested at Kukatpalli Housing Board (KPHB) in Hyderabad, Telangana, on Sunday night for trying to burn his 10-year-old son alive. The accused father is said to have been upset with the habit of not studying his child. The child has burned 65% and remains in critical condition. According to information provided by the police, R. Baalu lives in KPHB colony with his wife and his four children. He is the watchman. His two daughters and two sons came home after playing at around 9 pm and he was watching TV. Baalu then beat his youngest son Chakan and handed him over to the fire alive. Some locals came to extinguish the fire and pulled the boy out. He had burned 65%. He is undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital. The boy's condition is stated to be critical. Police suspect that sand was drunk at the time of the incident. K. Lakshmi Narayan, Inspector, KPHB Police Station said that a murder case has been registered against the accused. The accused father is also being interrogated.
