Telangana: Khammam is tense as a BJP activist commits suicide

Telangana: Tensions rose in Telangana's Khammam after BJP activist Sai Ganesh allegedly committed himself after being "unable to withstand police abuse."

Ganesh was taken to the hospital and talked to the media, claiming that following a BJP meeting, he set up a flag post in the "no objection area," which was allegedly broken by police personnel.

He said that he was tortured by police and that they had filed 16 charges against him."His self-esteem was shattered," Ganesh added, "and he swallowed poison because he couldn't stand the police torture."

Over the phone, Khammam Special Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Prasanna Kumar revealed that Sai Ganesh had about 9 charges in the past. The first case against him was filed in 2019. He has been involved in many activities since January and a rowdy sheet has been opened, police said.

Police denied Ganesh's charges, saying that before the BJP Foundational Day on April 6, Ganesh installed a flag post, which was broken by individuals in the neighbourhood who objected.

"Ganesh arrived at the police station on April 14 after consuming poison. He was sent to Arogya Hospital for therapy, and then to Yashoda Hospital for further treatment, where he died." According to ACP. While Ganesh's body was being taken to his home in Khammam, BJP workers protested, he added.
