Samyukta Singh, who made her film debut with Salaami opposite Ayub Khan in the 90s era and later acted in a few films and TV shows, wants to return to show business now. She says, “I was still in school when I did Salaami with Ayub Khan. People remember me even today because of the song, Chehra Kya Dekhte Ho. Everyone thought I was 18 then, but I wasn’t. After Salaami, I did a Telugu film and two TV shows (Zindagi Milke Bitayenge and Do Lafzon Ki Kahani) but gave it all up when I got married in 2005.” Samyukta married Keith Sequeira, but the two separated a few years later. She says, “It was not destined to last and we got a divorce in 2011 after which I felt it would be difficult to get back to acting, so I decided to get into the restaurant business. It has been almost two decades since I have been away from show business and my friends insist that I should return. Also, I feel with television and web platforms today, there is good scope for me to make a comeback now.” Talking about her past experience of working in films and TV shows, she says, “Television was limited then, but today, women have so many choices. Same applies to films. Of course back then, I was very young and had very little experience. I feel the entertainment industry has grown exceptionally now.” Ask her if she is in touch with her Salaami co-actor Ayub Khan and she says, “Yes, we do keep in touch. We reminisce how innocent we were back then. Ayub has done well on TV and in films, I am very happy for him.” Samyukta is currently single. She says, “I am happy and busy with my work, and hardly have the time to meet someone. At one point, I gave up my career for love and marriage, but now I want to pursue it.” I wish to get my third degree Black Belt in Martial Arts: Manan Joshi I am fine with playing a mother unless the actor playing my child is my age: Shefali Sharma I force him to watch my performance: Sunil Grover
