Srinagar: An Army jawan was martyred and a local Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was arrested during an anti-militancy operation that began on October 26 in the Baramulla district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Saturday. Police gave this information on Thursday. He said a search operation was underway to nab another militant, who is a Pakistani national. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants in the Wanseeran Taripora forest area of the Shiri area of Baramulla, a joint search operation was launched by police and security forces, a police spokesman said. He said that during the search operation, the hiding terrorists opened fire on the joint search party. He said the security forces retaliated and the encounter broke out. The police officer said that during the encounter, an army jawan was shot and was immediately taken to the hospital. He said that the jawan died during treatment. The spokesman said that a local terrorist of the terrorist organization Lashkar, Nisar Ahmed Bhat, was arrested. He said the security forces were conducting a search operation to nab another terrorist, a Pakistani national named Usman.
