NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha Secretariat announced that the 259th session will begin on January 31 and end on April 6. On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will deliver the Union Budget 2023–24. The President has called a meeting of the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in New Delhi. According to the statement, the Session is expected to end on Thursday, April 6, 2023, barring any pressing business matters. Beginning on January 31, President Droupadi Murmu will address the joint Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha session before the start of the budget session. The session will have 27 sittings and last until April 6 before a month-long break to review the budget documents, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi. The 2023 Budget Session of Parliament will begin on January 31 and go until April 6 with 27 sittings spaced out over 66 days and the customary recess. "During the Budget Session, 2023, the recess would be from February 14 to March 12, to enable the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees to consider the Demands for Grants and give findings about their Ministries/Departments," Joshi had earlier tweeted. On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will propose the Union Budget for 2023–24, according to the statement. After a break, the second part of the Budget Session will begin on March 13 with the first portion of the session ending on February 13.
