NEW DELHI: Prahlad Joshi, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, said on Friday that the Parliament's Budget Session 2023 will begin on January 31 and go until April 6.

The 2023 Budget Session of Parliament will begin on January 31 and go until April 6 with 27 sittings spaced out over 66 days and the customary recess. In a Tweet, the minister said that he was looking forward to talks on the Motion of Thanks for the President's Address, the Union Budget, and other topics amid Amrit Kaal.

He tweeted that the break would take place from February 14 to March 12 to provide department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees time to review grant requests and submit reports pertaining to their Ministries and Departments.

On December 16, Finance Minister Nirmala Sithataman made it clear that her upcoming budget will "follow the spirit" of previous ones and would continue to support growth through increased public spending.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Finance Minister Sitharaman, who was due to publish her fifth consecutive budget on February 1 for the fiscal year beginning in April, had revealed a large public spending programme to stimulate the economy.

It will be the 5th budget of the Narendra Modi 2.0 government and the Finance Minister. The last full budget before the general elections is slated in April-May 2024.
