Mumbai: Today is the 93rd birth anniversary of the Shiv Sena founder Bala Saheb Thackeray and the party is organising a grand event at the city mayor’s bungalow. The event is expected to be attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar. Here, A Mumbai-based artist has created a portrait of Bal Thackeray with 33,000 rudraksha beads and it has been put up in front of the Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar. A picture of the rudraksha portrait, designed by Chetan Raut. Raut said that, “Balasaheb Thackeray had a special relationship with rudraksha, so I wanted this portrait to be made of it. It is an 8 x 8 feet portrait and is made up of 33,000 rudrakshas, I tried to make a world record.” On Tuesday, Apart from a grand event and the rudraksha portrait, the Maharashtra government decided to build a memorial for Bal Thackeray at the cost of Rs 100 crores. The memorial will be located at Dadar where the last rites of the Shiv Sena founder were performed.
