These five states of the country are open defecation free, toilets built in villages of all states

New Delhi: The impact of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan run by the Modi government is now visible and slowly the states of the country are becoming open defecation free. Now Uttarakhand and Haryana have joined the list of open defecation free state of the country. Recently both states declared themselves as open defecation free. It is the fourth and fifth state in the country where open defecation has ended.

Before these, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala have joined the category of open defecation free states. Within two and a half years of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission Rural, the scope of cleanliness at the national level has increased from 42 percent to more than 64 percent. Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat has said, "Today this (cleanliness drive) has become a real people's movement. The village heads have played an important role in reaching this milestone."

13 districts of Uttarakhand and all 21 districts of Haryana have become open defecation free. Uttarakhand's 13 districts, 95 blocks, 7256 gram panchayats and 15751 villages have become open defecation free. In Haryana, now 124 blocks of 21 districts, 6083 gram panchayats have declared open defecation free. Let us tell you that Swachh Bharat Mission was started by PM Narendra Modi on 2 October 2014. With this, now five states of the country, more than two lakh villages and a total of 147 districts have become open defecation free.
