The Bharathiya Janata Party's senior leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Chennai ahead of Tamil Nadu on November 21 and 22. The visit ahead of assembly elections in 2021 is looked with utmost care. Apart from various inaugration projects and stone laying functions Meeting with Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam may be part of Amit Shah's itinerary, the sources said. Being alliance partners with BJP, they may discuss on taking forward the alliance as the saffron party has made no statement about the AIADMK decision of frontholding CM Palaniswami as the CM candidate. Amit Shah will launch Thervoy Kandigai reservoir and Phase- II of the Chennai Metro Rail projects in Kalaivanar Arangam. The leaders meeting is expected to take place shortly after the launch event in the city's popular star hotel. TN BJP is looking to stand strong both as a national party but 'sensitive' to regional sensibilities with its 'Vel Yatra' sought to 'protect' TN Hindus, leads their alliance with AIADMK in a sour zone. The ruling party clearly is preempting any attempt to polarise people on religious lines. However, BJP is seen giving voices and opinions on almost all regional issues in order make their presence felt in the regional arena of politics.
