New Delhi: To fight corona infection, India has launched an expansion project of hospitals in different states, especially in rural areas and small towns, to address a major shortage of health infrastructure. The modular hospital has an expansion of infrastructure and can be built near the existing hospital. As corona cases increased in different parts of the country, the infrastructure in hospitals was under tremendous pressure. Keeping in view the same requirement, innovative modular hospitals came as a major relief in the midst of crisis. The Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor has invited private sector companies, charity organizations and people to support the initiative along with various other projects of national importance. The Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor identified the needs of about 50 hospitals in the states where the highest number of corona cases were recorded. A start-up at Modules Housing, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) developed Medicab Hospitals. It is capable of building a 100 bedded extension facility in 3 weeks' time. Medicab Hospitals is designed with a dedicated area of ICU that can accommodate different life support devices and medical equipment.
