Indian boxer Satish Kumar lost in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics. With this, no Indian male boxer could win the medal. A total of 5 boxers landed. Satish (+91kg) was defeated 5-0 by Uzbekistan boxer Bakhodir Jalolov in the quarterfinals. Satish defeated Jamaican boxer Ricardo Brown in the pre-quarterfinal match.

Earlier, No.1 Amit Panghal had lost in the pre-quarterfinals. However, Satish Kumar was injured and had stitches before the encounter. Even after that, he entered this competition. He couldn't dominate Jalolov in all three phases. Satish Kumar defeated Jamaica's Ricardo Brown in the last-16 of the 91 kg category.
