Tough contest between Tamil Nadu and Haryana in National Hockey Championship

Tamil Nadu and Haryana advanced to the final of the Hockey India Senior Men's National Championship here on Saturday with easy semi-final victories. Haryana registered a 5-2 win against Maharashtra in the first semi-final while Tamil Nadu thrashed Karnataka 3-0 in another match of the last 4.

For Haryana, Deepak (21st, 50th), Deepak Kumar (12th), Ravi (27th) and Pankaj (45th) scored while captain Taleb Shah (24th, 52nd) scored both goals for Maharashtra. The first half of the match between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka was goalless.

It was followed by J Joshua Benedict Wesley (44th), Sundarpandi (50th) and Saravana Kumar (54th) scoring goals for Tamil Nadu. The final has been played on Sunday. Maharashtra and Karnataka are going to play playoff matches for the third and fourth places before this.
