The Fagarness International Chess 2022 title has been won by Krishnan Sasikiran, one of India's most experienced Grand Masters. He has also won the title by overtaking compatriot Aryan Chopra in the tiebreak and has also strengthened his claim for the first Indian team in the upcoming Chess Olympiad.
In the final 9th round, Shashikiran defeated Germany's Grand Master Alexander Donchenkon, leading the way, Aryan played out a draw with Norway's Olsen Urcadel and in such a situation, both of them have reached 7 points and the title was decided by a tiebreak in which Shashi has won the first place and Aryan has also secured the second place. In third place was Olsan Urkadale of Norway.
In the final round, the match between young Indian Grand Master Nihal Sarin and Arjun Erigasi also ended in a draw and as a result, Arjun scored 6 points to finish 5th and Nihal was 9th.
