Tragedy in Kherson: Russian Shelling Claims the Life of Heroic Doctor

Kherson: Russian shelling of a hospital in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson on Tuesday resulted in the death of a doctor and the injuries of five other medical personnel, according to local authorities.

Roman Mrochko, the head of the military administration, posted a message on the Telegram messaging app saying, "Today at 11:10 (0810 GMT), the enemy launched another attack on the peaceful residents of our community."

Photos shared by authorities showed a balcony's bloodied floor and a roof hole with debris all over the floor. Oleksandr Prokudin, the regional governor, reported that in addition to the critically injured nurse who had already been reported injured, four other medical personnel had also been hurt.

Mrochko claimed that the young doctor had only recently started working at his position and that medics were battling for the nurse's life. According to Prokudin, the facility's surgery department also sustained damage from the shelling. The specifics of the reports could not immediately be confirmed by Reuters.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), a medical aid organisation, claimed that it had been working at the hospital, supplying medical supplies and offering mental health consultations to people who had been displaced by the Kakhovka Dam's destruction.

MSF wrote on messaging service X, formerly known as Twitter, "We unequivocally condemn this disgraceful attack on a medical facility and extend our condolences to the family of the doctor who died."

Around 12 p.m. (0900 GMT), Russian shelling in the northeastern village of Pershotravneve resulted in the death of an elderly woman and the injury of a man. Oleh Synehubov, the regional governor of Kharkiv, posted on Telegram.
