Kolkata: A five-member fact-finding team of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has left Kolkata on Friday to probe the April 16 violence in the Jahangirpuri area of the national capital. The team also includes four women MPs from the TMC. The team will submit the report to West Bengal CM and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee. The BJP had also sent an investigation team to probe the gang rape and death of a minor girl in the Hanskhali area of Nadia district. The TMC's Jahangirpuri-bound team includes three MPs Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Shatabdi Roy and Aparupa Poddar and Arpita Ghosh, a former MP. It is expected that the team will discuss with the locals in Jahangirpuri and give a report to CM Banerjee. Party MP Sudeep Banerjee is leading the team. "We are sending a four-member fact-finding team comprising MPs to Jahangirpuri. I will be there for surveillance, but only women MPs will visit the spot. We have learnt that many people are not allowed to enter the area. We want to see if the authorities will allow the women's team.'' The gang-rape victim in Hanskhali was also cremated by the accused. A BJP team had arrived to investigate the matter. Earlier too, the BJP had sent a team to probe the Birbhum massacre. During that time, 10 people were burnt alive after the murder of a TMC leader. Both the parties had submitted their reports to BJP Chief J P Nadda. Now, it is believed that Mamata Banerjee is also sending a team to Jahangirpuri to avenge the same and corner the BJP.
