Amritsar: Former Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday said the party will have to be renewed. He has blamed mafia rule for the congress' defeat in Punjab. Sidhu further said, "On the injury of the sting, I will say that the Congress has lost due to 5 years of mafia rule. I fought against this mafia rule This fight was against the system. There was the business of some people, which was eating the state like termites. The Chief Minister was also involved.''

It is worth noting that Sidhu has earlier also taken on former State CM Charanjit Singh Channi. Sidhu has been continuously targeting Charanjit Singh Channi ever since the illegal sand mining case came to light. Apart from Channi, he has also been accusing former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh of promoting mafia rule The Congress high command had removed Captain Amarinder Singh from the post of chief minister last year and Charanjit Singh Channi got the CM post.

Earlier on Thursday, Navjot Singh Sidhu described state CM Bhagwant Mann as a rubber doll. The Congress leader also justified the opposition's allegation that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from Delhi is running the government in Punjab at the behest of the high command. Sidhu also claimed that there has been a steep decline in law and order after Bhagwant Mann sat on the throne of power.
