First case of triple talaq filed in Tamil Nadu, police engaged in investigation

Chennai: Even after classifying Triple Talaq as a crime and strict laws have been enacted, the number of cases of triple talaq is not lacking, three divorce cases are coming from different corners of the country. The latest case has come out of Tamil Nadu. For the first time in this state, a case has been registered against a person under the triple talaq law. An FIR has been lodged against Sheikh Abdullah on the complaint of his wife Rizwana at the Women's Police Station here.

A senior police officer has informed the media that a case has been registered against a man under the Muslim Women (Protection of Marriage Rights) Act on the basis of his wife's complaint. According to the police, a case has also been registered against the accused for offenses like harassment. A case has been registered against the accused's father, mother, brother and other relatives including various offenses including harassment.

In fact, in her complaint to the police, the woman has said that her in-laws harassed her and her husband divorced her under three terms. At the same time, the police say that a case has been registered on the complaint of the woman, as well as the investigation is going on.
