Tripura: Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb has apologized for making controversial comments on the Punjabi and Jat community. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, speaking on his controversial statement, tweeted with his Twitter account. He wrote in a tweet that in an event organized at Agartala Press Club, I had mentioned the views of some people about Punjabi and Jat people. My belief was not to bring defamation to any society. Where he has said about this, "I am proud of both Punjabi and Jat communities. I myself have been in their midst for a long time. Many of my friends come from this society. If my statement has hurt anyone's feelings, then I personally apologize for that." He further wrote, "I am always saluting the contribution of Punjabi and Jat community in the freedom struggle of the country and I can never imagine raising questions on the role played by these two communities in advancing India."
