NEW YORK: Former US President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence have returned to the capital, giving competing addresses to win Republican supporters, but Trump is emerging on top of Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, however coming in between them. According to Republican Strategist, Scott Jennings in a radio interview with NPR, Trump and Pence both returned to Washington D.C. on Wednesday to give dueling addresses, signaling they are vying for the party's attention ahead of the November 8 House of Representatives elections. He had heard both addresses, according to Jennings, a Republican strategist and frequent on the network's morning edition. "Pence's message is that we must consider the future. And Trump's argument is that we must revisit the past. Donald Trump is currently on top of Mike Pence, with Florida Governor DeSantis sandwiched between them. We'll see how that plays out over the next few years." What may be going through DeSantis' mind amid all of this? Where does he stand in the Republican primaries as a presidential candidate for the 2024 ticket? Jennings believed he had a polling advantage over Pence right now. He's ahead of Pence among non-Trump contenders vying for the nomination. And he undoubtedly feels Pence's presence in the election is beneficial to some extent because Pence's message is that we need to be conservatives while moving on from Trump.
