Twisted Metal, a post-apocalyptic action-comedy television series, will premiere on July 27, 2023. The film, starring Anthony Mackie, is a live-action adaptation of the PlayStation game series of the same name. The Marvel star plays John Doe in the teaser for the 10-episode Peacock series. In the series' teaser, Mackie starts his car, loads his shotgun, selects a Road Mix CD to play, and then says to the camera, "Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines." He cranks up the volume and starts rocking to the music before driving away. The teaser then cuts to a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas, where a shirtless and mystery man wearing a clown mask stands in an ice cream truck and pulls the shutter down. The half-hour live-action series is touted as "high-octane action comedy" about "a motor-mouthed outsider" who is "offered a chance at a better life" but must "deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland." "With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief," the description continues, "he will face savage marauders, driving vehicles of destruction, and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all-too-familiar ice cream truck." The series will premiere on Peacock on July 27, 2023. The 10-episode series, which will be shot in New Orleans from May to August 2022, also stars Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet and Thomas Haden Church as Agent Stone. Sweet Tooth, nicknamed the clown masked man, is played by professional wrestler Samoa Joe, although Will Arnett voices the wacky character. Loud is also played by Richard Cabral in the series. Peacock published a sneak peek scene in which John Doe gets beaten by Sweet Tooth in a battle until "Sisqó's Thong Song brings them together." The casting of Mackie was initially revealed in September 2021. — Peacock (@peacock) June 8, 2023 Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast responds to BTS' Jung Kook co-signing her book, "Crying in H Mart."
