MAHARASHTRA: Two arrested for running flesh trade racket in Thane

Police have   reportedly arrested two persons for allegedly running a flesh trade racket in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Tuesday, January 31

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the police's anti-human trafficking cell laid a trap near a hotel in Mira Road area on Saturday, senior police inspector Samir Ahirrao said. They caught a womken and an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly running the prostitution racket, police said.

It is also  said, another woman, who was being forced into it flesh trade, was rescued.

A case was registered against them under Indian Penal Code Sections 370 (trafficking of person) and 34 (common intention), and relevant provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, the police said.

Prostitutes in India lead very different lives. Genrally such people come from the downtrodden sections of the society in order to gain money and when they are offered lump sum money for this commercial trade, many of them who are in great need of financial help just give in.
