Two earthquakes jolt the Philippines, 5 deaths confirmed!

MANILA: At about five people were reported killed in two earthquakes on Saturday in the island of Batanes, located in the north of the Philippines' main Luzon Island, while 12 others are reported to be injured. A local official has confirmed this. According to a report by Xinhua news agency, Batanes Governor Marilo Keko has reported this to local media.

He told the media that five people were killed and 12 others injured in the first 5.4-magnitude earthquake in the morning. He said a historic church and other houses have been devastated by the earthquake. The second earthquake of 6.4 magnitudes struck at 7:38 a.m. local time. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the second earthquake was felt at a depth of 43 km from Takriban 19 km northwest of Ittaayat.
