Two persons arrested for Haryanvi singer's murder

NEW DELHI: Two people have been detained for the murder of a Haryana singer who went missing on May 11,  said a police officer.

Sangeeta alias Divya, the singer's mutilated body was found buried beside a roadside in Meham, Haryana. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shankar Choudhary, the accused duo plotted to kill the woman and phoned her under the guise of filming a music video.

"She was kidnapped from Delhi, drugged, and murdered by one of the accused. Both suspects later buried her on the side of the road near the Meham police station" according to the senior official. He further stated that a Delhi Police team was still in Meham with the accused duo.

Both of the suspects are in their late 20s and were acquaintances of the dead singer, according to preliminary investigations. They worked for a financial firm in Haryana. On May 21, they were both detained. Sangeeta's parents were notified and arrived in Meham shortly after. After a postmortem, the police handed her body over to her relatives.
