Two women were killed and over 30 people were injured when the parapet wall of a building collapsed, minutes ahead of YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's election rally at Mandapeta town in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. In a similar incident, 30 persons were injured after the parapet wall of a masjid at Sapthagiri Circle gave way under the weight of people who had gathered to hear TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu.

As part of campaigning YS Jagan was in Mandapeta, in order to see him a huge number of gathering has taken place. The roads were completely packed with the public. With this, the people started to get on the terrace of the nearby buildings. As the people were occupied the terrace of a building on the roadside, suddenly the compound wall has collapsed.
A woman standing on the ground identified as Pilli Ramulamma, 50, suffered a severe head injury and died on the spot. Another woman identified as Suramma, 65, also sustained a grievous head injury and breathed her last while being shifted to a hospital. The injured were rushed to a local government hospital and some private hospitals. Jagan consoled the injured at the hospitals. The condition of some who suffered head injuries is stated to be critical. He offered condolences for the death of the two women.
