New Delhi: App-based taxi service provider Uber has announced an important plan for its riders. The taxi company said that it would provide accidental insurance to its riders. Uber said that, riders opting for any service like car, auto or motorcycle will get the benefit of this insurance. According to the company, in the event of the death of the rider in the accident or any disability, you will get five lakh rupees. Under this insurance scheme, an insurance cover of two lakh rupees will be provided for hospitalization. Not only this, up to 50,000 OPD benefits will also be available in this scheme. Uber has partnered with Bharti AXA to provide insurance during the car ride. At the same time, it has tied up with Tata AIG for auto and moto rides. Uber provides service in 40 cities of the country. Pawan Vaish, head of Uber's Central Operations (Rides) in India and South Asia, said, "We work with riders to improve their service and our focus is to provide them with a safe experience." We have already announced insurance for drivers. With today's announcement, I am confident that our riders will feel much safer while taking Uber rides. He said that very few cases of the accident have been reported so far, but the company is strongly focused on rider safety. Vaish made it clear that under this insurance cover, the rider will get the benefit of insurance in case of any physical injury from sitting in the cab to the completion of the trip.
