Big gift to farmers growing paddy, Uddhav government will pay more than MSP

MUMBAI: Amid the Corona crisis in Maharashtra, the Uddhav government has given a big gift to the farmers. Farmers producing paddy in the state will now be given more price than MSP. The state government will pay farmers up to Rs 700 per quintal.

The Uddhav government of Maharashtra may soon approve this decision in the cabinet meeting. The central government had recently fixed the MSP price for the year 2020-21 before the Kharif season. Now the state government will provide additional Rs 700 per quintal to the farmers from that price. It is noteworthy that the Central Government had recently passed three bills related to farmers, after which some states protested against it. Soon after this decision, the Center had increased the price of MSP for the kharif crop and gifted it to the farmers. The central government had increased the MSP of paddy from 50 to 83 percent for the kharif season.

Actually, many political parties and farmer organizations had expressed doubts about the laws brought by the central government. Farmers' organizations said that the new laws of the Center will abolish the MSP, while the Center said that the MSP will continue. However, there was an appeal from political parties that the MSP should be included in the Center in the bill.
