Mumbai: Bachchu Kadu, a minister in the Uddhav government of Maharashtra, slapped a contractor supplying food to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Akola over the possibly poor quality of food being given to patients. The incident occurred on Monday evening when Kadu, the minister in charge of the Akola district, made a surprise visit to the hospital. Actually, a video of this has also gone viral, in which Kadu is seen allegedly slapping the contractor. During the hospital visit, Kadu examined the food being provided to the patients, including the patients suffering from corona, and he became enraged upon finding that the quality of the food was reportedly poor. He called the contractor to seek clarification on food quality and other issues and allegedly slapped him when he did not get a satisfactory reply. Kadu, later speaking to the media, said that he has asked the District Sub-Divisional Officer to investigate the poor quality food and food grains in the hospital and not maintaining records related to the food supply.
