London: Even as the country's Covid-19 alert level was elevated to “Level four” (Level four means a high or rising level of transmission) due to the emergence of the super mutant strain of the lethal virus, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned that the country will face a "tidal wave" of Covid's Omicron variant. Johnson declared a "Omicron emergency" and set a new booster target: the third doses will be available to everyone over the age of 18 in England starting this week, three months after their second dose. Boris Johnson said on Sunday, "No one should be in any doubt, there is an Omicron tidal wave approaching." As part of the UK government's Plan B measures, people have been told to work from home starting Monday "if they can." "I'm afraid we're in the midst of an emergency in our fight against the new variety Omicron," Johnson remarked. "It is now evident that two vaccination doses are insufficient to provide the amount of protection that we all require." But the good news is that our experts are certain that a third dose, known as a booster dose, will restore our level of protection." Our scientists are unable to say whether Omicron is less severe at this time. Certain additional medical appointments would have to be postponed until the New Year in order to meet the new jab objective, according to Johnson. According to the study, some general practitioners are already allowed to postpone normal health checkups to make room for immunizations.
