Ukraine-Russia conflict made significant consequences on global economy: Jaishankar

S Jaishankar, the Union Minister for External Affairs, stated in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the Ukraine-Russia war has had serious ramifications for the world economy, and that the government is taking steps to lessen the damage in the national interest. He stated that India supports discussions between Kyiv and Moscow, including at the level of their presidents, while clarifying India's position in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis.

"India continues to press for a quick suspension of hostilities and an end to violence in terms of diplomacy. We support discussions between Ukraine and Russia, especially at the presidential level. In this regard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to both of them "Jaishankar expressed his thoughts. The Minister emphasised that the conflict has had substantial economic effects worldwide, especially in India. We are examining the consequences, as do all other countries, and choosing what is best in our national interest, he continued.

Apart from food prices, He says that fertiliser prices have a direct impact on the bulk of the population's livelihood. Even the nation's security is at risk, he warned, as we maintain our defence posture in the manner that contemporary security concerns require. He urged nations to uphold international law, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations.

"It is important to remember that the modern global order is based on the UN Charter, respect for international law, and all states' sovereignty and territorial integrity. If India has chosen a side, it is for peace, with a demand for an end to violence as soon as possible "The EAM stated.
