Under-19 World Cup is over, yet the Afghan players do not want to return to their country, know why?

New Delhi: India has won the recently held Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies. India's youth brigade has created history by winning this title for the fifth time. After the World Cup is over, all the teams are now returning to their respective homes, but this is not happening with Afghanistan's under-19 team. The players of the Afghanistan Under-19 team are staying in England while returning from the West Indies. Some players have now refused to return to Afghanistan because the situation in their country is not right.

In such a situation, many players and staff have demanded that they should be given shelter in England itself. The Under-19 World Cup 2022 was very good for the Afghanistan team and the team finished fourth in the tournament. This is the best performance so far, but even on this happy occasion, the players are afraid to go home. According to Afghan media, some players of the team, some other members of the board then landed in England after departure from the West Indies, then they refused to take the flight to Kabul. The names of players or staff who have applied for asylum in the UK have not been made public.

This is the first time that the Afghanistan U-19 team has taken part in a major tournament when the terror outfit Taliban is in power in the country. The Taliban seized power in Afghanistan last year, after which their government is being run. It was under Taliban rule that Afghanistan's senior team joined the T20 World Cup 2021. Many former Afghanistan players have demanded that those who have stayed in England should consider coming back as they are the future of the country's cricket.
