Union Minister Suresh Gopi Braces Rain, Skips Umbrella at Yoga Day

Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister Suresh Gopi participated in the International Yoga Day celebrations at Kovalam Arts and Crafts Village, organized by the Central Tourism Ministry. Despite rain showers, the actor-turned-politician opted not to shelter under an umbrella provided by a police officer.

Observing the rain, Suresh Gopi humorously asked the students present, "Are you ready to take a shower?" and suggested he could shorten his speech to two minutes. Upon receiving an affirmative response from the children, he signaled for the police officer holding the umbrella to step away, indicating he preferred to speak without cover.

In another event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the global significance of yoga during the 10th International Yoga Day event at the SKICC. He emphasized yoga's role in promoting mindfulness and its impact on individual and global well-being.

"The world views yoga as a potent force for global good. It enables us to live in the present moment, unburdened by the past," Prime Minister Modi remarked.

Meanwhile, On World Yoga Day, Kerala's Health Minister Veena George announced plans to launch 10,000 new yoga clubs across the state this year. Emphasizing the profound benefits of yoga for physical, mental, and emotional well-being, she highlighted its transformative impact on society.

Addressing attendees at the state-level inauguration of the 10th International Yoga Day at Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium, George underscored this year's theme, 'Yoga for Individual and Society'. She emphasized yoga's role in promoting a healthy body and mind, boosting immunity, and preventing lifestyle diseases—a key focus area of Kerala's Nava Kerala Action Plan. George stressed that yoga's holistic approach aligns with efforts to enhance public health and well-being across Kerala.
