Lucknow: Chhath, a four-day mega festival of public faith celebrated across the country, began last Monday morning. The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has made a big announcement about the festival. In fact, they have declared a public holiday in view of this festival. Recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to declare November 10 as a holiday, respecting public sentiments on the occasion of Chhath Mahaparva. In fact, last Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was holding a meeting with district-level officials on the management of festivals and fairs to be held in Chhath Puja and Kartik Month through video conferencing at his official residence. He said, "With Chhath Parv being celebrated in most of the districts of the state, it is believed that almost all the districts will have holidays on 10th November.'' At the same time, the Chief Minister also said, "10th and 11th November is the festival of Chhath. On the occasion of Chhath, there is a possibility of congestion on rivers, lakes etc. On Chhath Parv, strict arrangements should be made for cleanliness and safety on the banks of rivers, ponds etc. It may be recalled that the State Government has already placed Chhath Parv in the category of restricted leave. He further said, "Fourteen Kosi and Panchkosi parikrama are held in Ayodhya in the month of Kartik. On this occasion, cleanliness of parikrama marg, as well as other public amenities including security, lighting and drinking water, should be provided on it. Devotees bathe in holy rivers on the occasion of Kartik Purnima.
