Gorakhpur: A youth who blackmailed an engineering student by sending an obscene photo on WhatsApp has been arrested by the Gorakhpur police. Police have arrested the accused from the Ashok Nagar area of Delhi. The accused was blackmailing the student and was asking for Rs 2 lakh. The victim's mother had filed a case against the accused at the Pipraich police station.

According to media reports, the student hails from Pipraich region and studies in private engineering college. It is being told that Pushpinder Sharma alias Karan, a Mumbai-based youth, had come to attend the wedding ceremony in Pipraich area in 2016. During this time he met his student and the two started chatting on mobile.

It is alleged that a few days later, the youth started harassing her by sending pornographic photos on WhatsApp. After which the student stopped talking to him. It is alleged that Pushpendra went to college to meet the student several times.

On not meeting, the youth started sending indecent photographs of the girl on the mobile of the principal and the teachers. Meanwhile, a fake account was uploaded on Facebook in the name of the girl student and it started putting a picture. When the girl's family called and asked them to delete the photo, the accused started demanding two lakh rupees. In this case, on 25 March 2018, the mother of the student lodged a case against Pushpendra at the Pipraich police station. After which now the accused has been arrested.
