Lucknow: An encounter took place between police and chain snatchers on Wednesday under Khurram Nagar police post of Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow. The chain snatchers had created an atmosphere of fear in the area, due to which the women stopped leaving the house. Not only this, these chain snatchers used to carry out the incident of chain snatching with women, in broad daylight, fearlessly in public. Due to this, there was an atmosphere of panic among the women. When the police reached to nab them on the information of an informer, both the miscreants opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the police also opened fire, due to which one of the miscreants was shot in the leg. Giving information about the entire incident, ADCP North Prachi Singh has said that the police were checking the picnic spot road, between Khurram Nagar outpost and Scorpio Club. The input was received from the informer that two chain snatchers are doing chain snatching from a Honda bike. These chain snatchers used to do chain snatching in a very bad way. These people used to make women run and snatch chains from their necks. On receiving the information, when the police team reached the spot and tried to stop them, both the miscreants opened fire. Then in self-defense, our policemen opened fire and a miscreant named Aslam got shot in the right leg. ADCP further said that the other miscreant was trying to escape, but he was caught. Now both will be questioned. Simultaneously, inquiries will also be made in relation to what these people have looted earlier. Two gold chains have been recovered from the miscreants, along with 10 thousand rupees have also been found. However, no policeman was injured in the firing by the miscreants.
