Washington: In a television interview on Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated that if elected president, he would aim to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, the Departments of Energy, Commerce, and Education. In response to a question from Fox News host Martha MacCallum about which agencies he would eliminate while in office, he stated, "We would do Education, we would do Commerce, we'd do Energy, and we'd do IRS." We will be able to reduce the size and scope of government if Congress cooperates with me in doing that. In the past, some senior Republicans have demanded the elimination of those departments. Conservatives have targeted the Department of Education in particular, and former President Donald Trump has also called for its elimination.
