US exempted India from sanctions for development of Chabahar port

Washington: US has granted India a unique exemption from restrictions in the case of Iran's Chabahar port. The US has taken this decision in view of the importance of this port in supplying humanitarian aid from India in war-ravaged Afghanistan. A senior US government official has given information in this regard.

India, Iran and Afghanistan are jointly developing this port. It is located in Sistan and Balochistan provinces of Iran and is on the coast of the Indian Ocean. A senior US State Department official while speaking to the press said that we have given an exception to India for the development of Chabahar Port, which led to the construction of a railway line for the export of refined oil products to the port and Afghanistan. Approval is obtained.

The official further stated that unless Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps is involved in this construction, the exemption from sanctions will continue to be given further. Let us tell you that the relations between America and Iran are not going well, due to which America has placed many restrictions on Iran, in which India has got some concession.
