UP: Love Jihad case with retired IAS officer's daughter, know the case

Agra: A high profile case of love jihad has come to light from Agra in Uttar Pradesh. Here, a man named Arif Hashmi pretended to 'marry' the daughter of a retired IAS officer by naming himself Aditya, fraudulently taking a photo as if he were actually filling the vermilion. He then started pressurising the victim to convert. UP police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim and arrested the accused.

 

The daughter of a retired IAS who was a victim of love jihad was married earlier, but her husband passed away in 2005. The victim's husband was a hotelier. After her husband's death, the victim was the one who looked after the entire hotel work. The victim's uncle was also IAS. Giving a police complaint, the victim said that she met accused Arif Hashmi at a party in Lucknow. According to the victim, Arif named himself as Aditya Arya and also described himself as a big wooden businessman. After that, the two continued to meet.

The victim in her police complaint against Hashmi said that Hashmi once photographed the victim filling vermilion and later started blackmailing the victim on the basis of the same picture. Hashmi then pressured the victim to convert her religion also sexually assaulted the victim fearing to defame her family and also had physical intercourse. The victim has also alleged that Hashmi also took money from the victim for his licensed gun. When the victim came to know the reality of Hashmi, she started protesting after which the accused Hashmi assaulted her and also cut her hair. Not only that, Hashmi also broke the place of worship of the house.

 

Agra police have registered a case under serious sections of the Assault, Attempt to Murder, Unnatural Acts, Robbery and Cheating, Rape and Conversion Retaliation Act and arrested the accused Arif Hashmi. Some political connections of the accused Arif have also come to light, pictures of him with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh have gone viral. The accused Arif is also considered close to Akhilesh and Sanjay Singh.
