Uncle-nephew shot dead in minor dispute, altercation started over cutting of tree in field

Lucknow: An uncle-nephew were shot dead on Saturday over a dispute in Ahroda village under Jansath police station area of Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district. Three others are said to be injured in the attack. According to police, Shiv Shankar (50) and his nephew Nakul (28) were shot dead in a clash between two groups in Aharoda village under the Jansath police station area on Saturday. In this dispute, three other people from the victim's side have been injured in the firing, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

CO Shakeel Ahmed said that two persons, Jagesh Kumar and his son Sonu, were arrested in this connection and a licensed gun and a pistol were recovered from their possession. According to the police, Jagesh and his son Sonu committed the crime in a quarrel over cutting a tree from the farm tree. Police, who rushed to the spot after receiving information, arrested both the accused and recovered the weapons used in the crime.

The CO has said that weapons and lathis were used during the clash. Ahmad said security has been beefed up in the village and additional police have been deployed. This is the second incident of double murder in the thana Jansath area within four days. Earlier on April 26, Harpal (50) and his wife Koshal (48) were dragged to death from an e-rickshaw in Khalwada village under the Jansath police station area.
