Uttar Pradesh extended curfew till May 31, industrial activity gets exempted

The Yogi government has decided to extend the statewide curfew till May 31. A decision was taken in regard to break chain of transmission of novel coronavirus at a meeting of the state cabinet.

The meeting was chaired by UP CM Yogi Adityanath in Kanpur on Saturday. As per the government order, the corona curfew will remain in effect till 7 am on May 31. Vaccinations, industrial activity, essential services and movement related to medical emergencies will be exempted from the restrictions. The health department also suggests the same as the state recorded 6,046 new confirmed cases of infection and 226 more deaths in the last 24 hours. Addressing a press conference in Kanpur, UP CM Adityanath claimed the second wave of Covid-19 infections in the state will be contained by May 30. Urging officials to prohibit large gatherings. Steps are being taken to improve the pace of vaccinations in June, the Chief Minister said further.

In fact, seeing the positive response over the last seven days of Uttar Pradesh the move of curfew extension is good. The state has recorded a drop of nearly 50 per cent in average daily infections compared to the previous week. UP government officials say aggressive testing in villages led to the drastic drop in new cases.
