Jaunpur: In Bari Khas village of Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a mentally unstable person attacked his family members with a knife. Two people, including the man's daughter, died in this attack. Many people have also been injured in the attack. Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Raj Karan Nayyar said that accused Mumtaz alias Sonu has been arrested and sent to jail. All the injured people have been admitted to the district hospital, their condition is stable. The police officer said that Mumtaz was undergoing treatment at a mental hospital in Varanasi for the past seven years. He was being taken to Varanasi on Monday for consultation with doctors, but he jumped from the car and escaped and then reached home late in the evening. He went to the kitchen to eat, but he could not find anything there. He angrily picked up the knife and stabbed his daughter Hamayra (7). Mumtaz's mother Chanda Begum tried to save Hamayara, then he attacked her as well. Hamayra died on the spot. Mumtaz's wife Firdaus and 3-year-old son Mohammed came out of their rooms after hearing Hamayra's screaming, and he attacked them both with a knife. He also attacked another family member trying to stop Mumtaz from going out of the house. Mumtaz also stabbed Sulema Devi, who came to take milk. Neighbours and other villagers with great difficulty caught Mumtaz and informed the police. A team of police reached the spot and all the injured were rushed to the district hospital, but Sulema Devi was declared dead by the doctors.
