Former MP DP Yadav acquitted in 30-year-old case, HC reverses CBI court verdict

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand High Court has acquitted Uttar Pradesh's Bahubali leader and former MP DP Yadav. The high court quashed the lower court order and granted him relief as there was no concrete evidence against DP Yadav. DP Yadav was serving a life sentence in Dehradun jail for the murder of Ghaziabad MLA Mahendra Bhati.

It may be recalled that he was sentenced to life imprisonment by a CBI court in Dehradun for killing Mahendra Bhati, an MLA in Ghaziabad, by three others, including former Uttar Pradesh MP DP Yadav. Against which all petitions were filed. Today (Wednesday) the court of Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma gave its verdict on the appeal of DP Yadav. After hearing the case, the High Court set aside the order of the lower court, saying that no concrete evidence was found against him. After this, the High Court acquitted him in disgrace.

DP Yadav is currently out of jail on interim bail. The high court has reserved the verdict in the appeals of other accused in the murder. According to the case, DP Yadav, Praneeth Bhati, Karan Yadav and Pal Singh alias Lakkar Pala were charged with the murder of Ghaziabad MLA Mahendra Bhati on September 13, 1992.
