In a tragic and horrifying incident, a 33-year-old nurse from Uttarakhand was raped and murdered while on her way home from work. The suspect has been arrested following a nationwide outcry over similar violent crimes. The victim, who lived in Bilaspur Colony with her 11-year-old daughter, worked at a private hospital in Nainital. She was reported missing on July 30 by her sister, leading to an immediate investigation by the Uttarakhand police. Her body was later discovered in an empty plot in Dibdiba, Uttar Pradesh, and was sent for a post-mortem examination. The arrested suspect, Dharmendra, is a laborer from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. He was apprehended in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. According to police reports, Dharmendra lured the nurse into a secluded area, where he first sexually assaulted her, then strangled her, and stole her jewelry. CCTV footage captured the victim’s last known movements, showing her traveling in a tempo from Indra Chowk in Rudrapur. The police traced her stolen mobile phone to Dharmendra, which led to his arrest. During interrogation, Dharmendra confessed to attacking the nurse with the intention of robbing her, before taking her to a vacant plot, where he committed the heinous crime.
