Lucknow: A Bangladeshi citizen was apprehended at Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport on Friday for allegedly attempting to board a flight to Thailand using counterfeit Indian documents. The individual, identified as Shimul Barua from Shilghata, Chopachhari, Satkania in Chattogram, Bangladesh, was caught after immigration officers grew suspicious of his documents.

Immigration officer Rakesh Kumar Yadav reported that Barua, traveling under the alias Ashish Rai, presented a passport and Aadhaar card during the clearance process for Flight FD-147 to Bangkok. The address listed on the documents was from Rathtala, Singur, in West Bengal. However, discrepancies in the documents led to further scrutiny.

Upon questioning, it was discovered that Barua had used fraudulent means to obtain an Indian passport and Aadhaar card. He was subsequently booked at the Sarojini Nagar Police Station and taken into custody for further interrogation. Police also recovered a Bangladeshi passport from Barua’s possession.
