Indian boxers Vanshman (63.5kg) and Aman Singh Bisht (+92kg) advanced to the youth men's final of the 2022 ASBC Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan with dominant victories on Saturday. Last tournament's silver-medallist Vanshman defeated Ahmed Naba of Syria when the referee had to stop the match in the first round itself. Aman defeated Tim Ofepotashov of Kazakhstan 4-0 in the semi-final late on Friday night. Another youth boxer Anand Yadav had to be content with a bronze medal. He was declared the winner 3–2 against Abduvali Buriboev of Uzbekistan in the 54kg semi-final, but the decision was reversed when the opposing player lodged a protest. Vishwanath Suresh (48kg), Vanshman and Aman will compete in the youth men's finals while seven women boxers are scheduled to enter the finals on Monday. The finals of the junior category will be held on Sunday, in which a total of 15 boxers, including 11 men and four women boxers from India, are going to challenge for the gold medal. With 21 medals in the junior category and 18 in the youth category, India has already secured 39 medals in the prestigious continental tournament. In this age group tournament, the youth and junior competitions of men and women are going to be held together. India had won 39 medals including 14 gold in the previous tournament in Dubai in 2021.
