New Delhi: Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has expressed concern over the country's growing population. Venkaiah Naidu said that in order to curb the growth of population, precaution will have to be taken. Political parties and leaders should convince the people in this matter. The Vice President once again mentioned the traditional joint family system of India.
Naidu has said that "I am very distressed by the news of abuse, disrespect happening to the elderly. A greater difference in sex ratio will negatively affect the stability of our society". The Vice President called for the creation of a society that is free from all forms of gender bias. The IAPPD report demanded reservation for women in Parliament and Legislatures. Naidu drew attention to the issue of population and said that due to the rapidly increasing population, the challenges of development are increasing today. Talking on the report, Naidu said, "We need to recognize the relation between population and development. Considering the estimates made by experts, it has been said that the population of the country will increase to 1.52 billion by 2036.
Venkaiah Naidu said that "Due to the increase in population, today 20 percent people are below the poverty line and so many people are uneducated. Discussing the matter, he emphasized on family planning. PM Narendra Modi, while addressing the country on Independence Day last year, said that those whose family is small have also contributed to the development of the country.
