Mumbai: Mumbai received heavy rainfall on Thursday evening, disrupting road and rail traffic in some parts of the city. This was the second day in a row that Mumbai received heavy rainfall. On Wednesday too, there was heavy rain accompanied by lightning in the city. The island city had recorded 30.96 mm of rainfall in a 24-hour period till 8 a.m. on Thursday. Several individuals have shared photos and videos of rain and lightning in Mumbai, some of them are scary. One of the videos shows lightning in Mumbai's Borivali West region. According to the caption of the video, electricity fell on Neminath Building but no damage was reported there. The same 8-second video shows lightning falling on the building with a loud sound. The video was shot from a neighbouring building. As the lightning strikes the building, the man holding the camera starts trembling. Due to heavy rains, low-lying areas of Mumbai have been waterlogged. There are also reports that some drains have been flooded. The rains have affected the movement of trains as the tracks were flooded. On Wednesday, the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Pune, Ratnagiri and Nashik. IMD has warned of heavy rainfall in these areas in the next 5 days. IMD forecast states that rains will continue in parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha till Sunday.
