Tehran: The discussions aimed at restoring the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement were called off in Vienna, Austria, and officials returned to their respective capitals for consultations before reconvening next week. On Friday, senior officials from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany expressed "disappointment and alarm" over Iran's recent demands. According to sources, these developments have resulted in the meeting's suspension and increased uncertainty for future talks. "It was emphasised that Iran's ideas on the elimination of illegal and oppressive sanctions, as well as the nuclear issue, are on the table," Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran's senior nuclear negotiator, told Iranian media in Vienna on Friday. It was suggested that the discussions be halted for a few days since the European officials needed to consult with their capitals for a "documented and reasonable response" to these demands, he was quoted as saying by Iranian news network Press TV. Bagheri Kani said the European parties were not "happy" with some aspects of Iran's offers and that the response from other sides will be the basis for further negotiations.
